Wenge
Characteristics: Wenge is an exotic and imported hardwood that has heartwood that is dark brown with very close, fine, almost black veins. The texture is coarse and the grain is straight to slightly wavy.
Common Uses: Wenge is used for flooring - interior or exterior joinery - excellent for turnery - veneer - cabinets - marquetry and carving.
Working Properties: Wenge works well with power tools. Blades must be kept sharp. Must pre-bore for fasteners. When filled, it can be brought to a nice finish.
